Cashback sites earn commissions from merchants when customers make purchases through their platform. Here’s how tracking of those transactions typically works:
- Click Through: You click a “Shop Now” or “Buy Now” tracking link on Cashrewards website or App to visit a merchant's website or click “Activate Now” on the Notifier.
- Tracking: A click id/tracking code is attached from the link to your journey.
- Purchase: You make a purchase on the merchant’s site.
- Affiliate Network: An affiliate network receives the purchase information from the merchant together with the click id and passes it back to Cashrewards. The click id identifies the pending transaction as belonging to you.
- Validation: The merchant validates transactions on the Affiliate Network to approve or decline the sale to Cashrewards. Transactions are approved or declined based on a number of factors including: Attribution of the sale to Cashrewards versus other third party advertisers, terms of the offer including exclusions, returns etc.
- Cashback: When the merchant approves the transactions to Cashrewards, Cashrewards approves the transaction to the member and provides a portion of the approved commission as cashback.
- Commission: The merchant pays a commission for approved transactions only to the affiliate and the affiliate passes commission back to Cashrewards for driving the sale.
For accurate tracking, avoid clicking on other sites or ads during your purchase journey, as this can redirect the commission to another advertiser.
Avoid using AdBlockers and VPNs which can disrupt tracking. Ensure you read the Merchant Special Terms and Tracking Tips prior to shopping.
